Irritable Bowel Syndrome (FODMAPS)
Passionate about helping those who suffer with IBS regain their quality of life; Aoife is experienced in the dietary management of IBS, including the low FODMAP diet.
Although you don’t need a GP or Gastroenterologist to refer you to see Aoife for the low FODMAP diet, it is important that other causes of your symptoms have been ruled out, in particular coeliac disease. Aoife will not see anyone for the low FODMAP diet if they have never been screened for coeliac disease. There is no need to undertake a food intolerance or blood test as the evidence for their use in the treatment of IBS isn’t strong enough.
See the Irish Food Allergy Network for further information here.
You should expect to have 3 appointments in total to undertake the low FODMAP diet, and guide you safely through the reintroduction of it.
